Hello Everyone~
Greetings from Bangkok!
We have had a splendid day... this city is so grand, it is almost too much to take in. When we look out of our hotel window, we see buildings, of all shapes and sizes, mashed into 600 square miles.
We took a water taxi to the Grand Palace today to see the Emerald Buddha and the King's grounds. It was spectacular. The mosaics and tiles used to create these structures are works of art. We had a great time observing and watching and sweating in the heat of the day.
After our 5 hour walkabout through the palace grounds and museums, we went to the street market at the pier, and I had the best pad thai of my life. It had prawns and it was wrapped in a fried egg. YUM!
Tonight we went to Mango Street and tried out some other Thai dishes... and then a Thai massage. After that, we walked to Patpong, which is the historical red light district. Let's just say that I can't believe the menu of things men were approaching us with... and what the "ping-pong" or "banana" could do! For example, blowing out a candle. Or other tricks.
We are back in the hotel now, trying to fight off the jet lag. Off to another palace tomorrow, and in search of more delicious street food and perhaps a massage. Toodle loO!
